A Practical Solution for Airgun Enthusiasts on a Budget
The BSA Portable PCP Airgun Compressor is a straightforward, affordable option for airgun users who want to fill their cylinders without the hassle of manual hand pumps or the weight of bulky air tanks. Designed for home or field use, this compact and lightweight compressor offers dual power options and reliable performance for small-volume airgun cylinders. While it requires careful attention during operation, it’s an ideal entry-level choice for shooters looking for convenience at a reasonable price.
Key Features
- Dual Power Options: Operates via 240v mains power at home or a 12v car battery in the field, giving you flexibility wherever you shoot.
- Automatic Shutoff: Set your desired pressure on the gauge, and the compressor will stop when the target pressure is reached to help prevent overfilling.
- Compact and Lightweight: At just 10kg, it’s portable and easy to transport, making it great for trips to the range or hunting grounds.
- Simple Operation: Designed for straightforward use, with a clear analogue pressure gauge and quick-disconnect (QD) fill line.
- Low Maintenance: Oil-free lubrication and no water cooling mean less hassle, though occasional inspections are recommended for long-term reliability.
- Quiet and Efficient: Features low-vibration operation and a fan system for air cooling during use.
Operation Guide
- Power Off: Ensure the compressor's power switch is in the "off" position before connecting to a power source.
- Connect Power:
- For mains power, connect the 240v lead to a standard domestic socket.
- For field use, connect the crocodile clamps to a 12v car battery (red to positive, black to negative). Do not connect both power sources simultaneously.
- Set Fill Pressure: Rotate the spindle on the pressure gauge to set your desired pressure. Always check your airgun’s cylinder or bottle for the maximum allowable pressure to avoid overfilling.
- Attach Fill Line:
- Use the Foster QD fitting at the end of the compressor’s fill line to connect to your airgun.
- If your airgun uses a threaded probe, attach a QD adapter (sold separately).
- Turn On Compressor: Flip the rocker switch to power on the compressor. The fan should start running.
- Begin Filling: Press the silver start button to initiate filling. Monitor the pressure gauge and ensure all connections remain secure.
- Bleed Regularly: Every 5 minutes, stop the compressor and use the knurled bleed valve to release built-up moisture from the water trap.
- Cool Down Period: For fills longer than 10 minutes, stop the compressor and allow it to cool for 2-3 minutes before resuming. Bleed the system during this break.
- Finish Filling: When the desired pressure is reached, the compressor will automatically shut off. Turn off the power switch and disconnect the fill line.
- Store Safely: Disconnect from the power source and store the compressor in a dry, cool location.

Important Notes for Operation
The BSA Portable Compressor is a budget-friendly, entry-level option and requires active monitoring while in use. To ensure proper functioning:
- Bleed the water trap every 5 minutes during operation.
- Avoid continuous use for longer than 10 minutes—allow a cooling period of 2-3 minutes before resuming.
- Use only with airgun cylinders smaller than 300cc for best results.
- Ensure power is connected to either mains or 12v, but never both at the same time for safety reasons.
- Regularly inspect the compressor, and consider having it checked by a certified compressor engineer periodically to maintain performance.
Additional
- In-Line Air Dryer: To prevent internal corrosion caused by moisture, consider selecting the additional Hill Dry-Pac Pro air drier to your order - Fitting instructions here
- For Best Results: Always check the maximum fill pressure of your airgun’s cylinder and use the correct QD adapter for your setup.
- Compatible parts and servicing: For parts and servicing you can use GX Pump CS3 guides and parts - Servicing should be carried out by a professional
Disclaimer
This compressor is designed for basic airgun filling needs and should not be compared to professional-grade models. While it offers significant convenience, it requires manual intervention during operation to bleed the water trap and monitor fill times. Users are advised to follow all safety instructions and ensure regular maintenance to prevent misuse or damage.
