AGT VIXEN 2 – It’s Happening

If you've been keeping one eye on the airgun world recently, you'll know that the VIXEN 2 is on its way—and it’s arriving soon. We’re expecting stock by the end of this month or the start of next. It’s being positioned to replace the original VIXEN as the more compact, affordable rifle in the Airgun Technology (AGT) lineup—and yes, that means the VIXEN Mk1 is being discontinued.

Now, normally AGT has a habit of keeping older models running alongside their new ones. Not this time. And while that might cause a few headaches for anyone sitting on Mk1 stock, we understand the move. If you’ve still got parts and builds in circulation, announcing a “2” model too early just freezes sales on the “1.” AGT aren’t in the business of writing off inventory, and we wouldn't expect them to be.

Yes, the Mk1 Is Going

The VIXEN Mk1 has been a great rifle—loved by shooters, reviewers, and trade customers alike. But it’s officially being phased out. So if you’ve had one on your list, now is very much the time. We’ve still got a few left in stock, and several of our trade partners still have some kicking around too. Just don’t wait—when news spreads that the VIXEN 2 costs a bit more, the Mk1 might suddenly become a lot more desirable.

So What Is the VIXEN 2?

Here’s the honest bit: we didn’t find out about the VIXEN 2 from AGT. One of our customers, who happened to be at IWA, sent us a photo. That was the first we’d seen of it.

This isn’t us complaining. AGT likely didn’t want to overshadow the remaining Mk1 stock—fair enough. But it was still a surprise. Especially since we’d been working with AGT on the VIXEN Enhanced and the custom FDE version we developed with their blessing. (Yes, they’re still trying to get a proper FDE anodiser in CZ—but the options are limited and expensive. We’ve been down that road.)

Still, whether that project nudged them along or not, we’re happy to see progression. The VIXEN 2 takes on several bits of feedback from reviewers and customers. It’s not just a facelift—it’s a solid evolution.

Variants? Yep. But Don’t Overthink It (Yet)

The VIXEN 2 is due to launch in two versions—what we’re loosely calling:

  • Carbine – shorter barrel, compact profile

AGT VIXEN 2 Carbine with silencer
AGT VIXEN 2 Carbine with silencer
  • Long – longer barrel, possibly more air efficiency or better suited for FAC use

AGT VIXEN 2 Long without silencer
AGT VIXEN 2 Long without Silencer

Now before anyone starts speculating too hard: we haven’t had one in our hands yet. They also haven’t been through our testing panel—which includes internal testers, plus reviewers like AAR, ZubySan, and RackNLoad. So until those rifles arrive and get properly put through their paces, we’re not making bold claims about performance.

If you're shooting sub-12 ft/lb in the UK, logic suggests the shorter variant will suit you just fine. The original VIXEN certainly didn’t need extra barrel length to impress. But again—we’ll all find out soon enough.

What’s New in the VIXEN 2?

AGT has taken real-world input onboard. Whether it’s reviewers, retailers, or end users like yourselves, the VIXEN 2 reflects a lot of the wishlist items we’ve all had. Here’s what’s changed:

  • CZ-Made Barrel – Still here, still brilliant.

  • ARCA Handguard with M-LOK – Modular, sleek, and compatible with everything from bipods to tripods.

Still Fancy a Mk1?

There’s no shame in preferring the Mk1. It’s lighter still, it’s proven, and there are bargains out there—for now.

Just a word of caution if you’re looking at second-hand rifles: be careful what you’re buying. We’ve had a few "butchered" guns come into the shop lately that needed serious work to put right.

Top tip: if you're looking at a sub-12 ft/lb VIXEN and you see that the black port cover on the side has been tampered with, walk away. That could mean the gun’s been modified for less than legal purposes. You could be holding a grey gun, or worse—a hot gun that's on police radar. Not worth the risk.

When Can You Get One?

We’re expecting the VIXEN 2 to arrive end of this month or early next. We are not taking pre-orders—so it’ll be first come, first served once they’re here.

If you want to be the first to know when they go live, hit the ‘Back in Stock’ button on the product page. That’ll ping you the moment we have stock.

Some of our trade partners have already secured their initial orders, so expect to see them popping up across the country after they land.

Final Thoughts

We’re excited. This is one of the first AGT rifles in a long time to break the usual model cycle. Whether you loved the Mk1 or have been waiting for a more modern, shooter-led design, the VIXEN 2 looks to be shaping up into something special.

As soon as we’ve got test results from the usual suspects—AAR, Zuby, Rack, and our own test crew—we’ll be shouting about it. Until then, keep an eye on the site, sign up for alerts, and maybe start thinking about which ARCA Tripod or M-LOK accessory you're buying.
