Scopes?

I’ve always had (relatively)budget scopes on my guns (sub £200) and to be honest I’m not that great a shot to start with.

Having just forked out on a new rifle and seeing the buzz around vector scopes I’m wondering if an upgrade to more mid range is worth the pennies? I target shoot sub 12 ft/lb at an absolute max of 50 metres. Whilst the added magnification would be handy (12max on mine) I’m not sure things like ffp etc would be of huge benefit? Are the optics really that much brighter?

Hi @Guns better than shooter :( we have a few questions to best guide you. What gun and calibre? What model scope do you currently use? Do you shoot rested or standing?

FFP is going to show its advantages if you are likely to be moving between different distances. SFP is more cost-beneficial but only really has any advantage when it is being used at a set distance. At 50m Target, I would look at a magnification of around 18x at least for smaller targets. That isn't to say that a lower mag won't work, it may just suit your shooting better. I myself use a 3-12x44 FFP scope for 30m, and that works well for me. The Galahad may struggle with normal/klarge scopes but the s$10 should be fine with any size. If you are looking at compacts, the Veyron would be the best shout. However, if you are looking for clarity the Taurus is unbeatable value for money
